Organisational Summary
Opportunity is found in the M&A business of investment banking, which boomed to $5.1T deal value in 2021. Providing accurate business models to clients is essential, however present methods are becoming less competitive, with fintech’s and non-bank’s bespoke design threatening the bulge bracket. “DeFINe” provides real-time shared analytics that reinforce client-analyst communication and ensures transparency via data auditing and simplification of pitchbook presentations. Unique UX approach to platform creation optimises client-centricity and reconnects M&A with its roots in relationship management.
Role
I was a solo entrepreneur, making me an all-rounder in the organisational context, and providing the exciting challenge of applying a wide range of previously acquired design engineering methods. A key part of my venture was using quantitative and qualitative research methods like surveys, data analytics and interviews, as this enhanced my understanding of trends and user behaviour. This was prominent in project’s initial stages for clear opportunity definition. Core to the MVP was a UX/UI prototype, where my existing human-centred and brand design skills, and growing UX/UI design skills were heavily engaged. This arsenal grew to include co-design and active communication, which enabled my iterating on the prototype with target users. I also demonstrated my technical abilities by developing an interactive front-end for part of the platform, enabling real time stocks data viewing and manipulation. Prior experience in python and javascript further enhanced by research of modern web app libraries were central to this stage. First key outcomes are “DeFINe” prototypes, which visualise the M&A financial analytics platform, aligning directly with users’ need for data evidencing and highly detailed and customisable dashboards. M&A is heavily regulated, and a centralised platform has the potential for greatly reducing miscommunications, leak risks and collaboration inefficiencies.
